The Tulsa Opera presents Puccini's La Bohème.
Tulsa Performing Arts Center - Chapman Theatre
When the beautiful Mimi arrives at Rodolfo’s door looking for a light, the flames of love ignite. Set amongst the cafés, art and song of Paris’ Latin Quarter, La bohème perfectly captures the intense passion and idealism of young love through the lives, dreams and desires of six bohemian friends.
Featuring Puccini’s most ravishing music, such as the instantly recognizable Musetta’s waltz, La bohèmeranks as one of the most popular operas in the world – so popular, it was the inspiration for the hit Broadway musical Rent. Karin Wolverton, whose sparkling soprano enchanted audiences in her debut as Micäela in Carmen, stars as Mimi. Nathan Granner, a member of Sony Masterworks’ The American Tenors, makes his Tulsa Opera debut as Rodolfo. Tulsa Opera Studio alumnus Alexander Elliott returns as Marcello, Mary Hollis Hundley debuts as Musetta, Nathan Stark sings the role of Colline and Tony Dillon returns as Benoit and Alcindoro. One of Tulsa Opera’s favorite directors Jonathan Pape (La traviata, 2010, Dead Man Walking, 2012) brings his vision to this production with sets provided by Kansas City Lyric Opera. Artistic Director Kostis Protopapas conducts the Tulsa Opera Orchestra.
